Author's Note: A Question for You

Hi guys, I was hoping for some feedback from you all on my Friday posts.  I'm nearing the end of the ones I have ready to go (Brody's last back story post will be up this week, then Kinsley's are the next three weeks), and I'm wondering how you guys are feeling about them.  The feedback I have heard has been positive, but they're the least viewed and commented on posts, so I'm wondering where you all are at with them.

Love them?  Hate them?  They're okay, but you could take or leave them?

Also, is there anything you'd particularly like to see with other perspectives (back stories or current)?  I do have Brody's perspective on all the recent events ready to go up tomorrow night, and I have a current Alex perspective coming up in a couple weeks.  Once I finish Kinsley's story, I do have a bunch of current alternative perspective post ideas that go along with where the story will be, so I was considering just doing those on Fridays for awhile too.

Also, FYI, switching out Friday's perspective posts with the main storyline isn't an option right now, unfortunately, but it is something that I will consider in the future.

So to recap:  I'm looking on thoughts or questions on the Friday posts and/or requests for particular characters or events that you'd like to see there.

Thanks for your readership, your comments, and your input!

  1. I like the Friday postings - The backstories give more depth to the characters... but I also really love the different perspectives on some of the story lines. This bit fascinates me and I'd like to maybe see more of these...

    1. Totally agree. I like the Friday posts but especially enjoy the different perspectives. It's always interesting to get someone else's take on what Olivia is experiencing. Love the blog!

    2. Thank you both so much for the feedback. I was definitely planning to go more towards the alternate perspectives on the current story (since there's only so much backstory and we're nearly out of it!) so I'm glad to hear that's what people are enjoying.

  2. I don't love the back stories per se but I still read them. I would love to see an alternate POV of current events on Fridays. Brody's POV is my favorite!

    1. Great, thank you for the feedback! I can definitely understand why the back stories aren't people's favorites. They tend to be not quite as engaging or exciting. I think Kinsley's line up a little more with the "tone" of the main storyline, so that seems like a good place to take a break from them for awhile.

  3. I really like the backstories because thry give insight to why each character is the way he/she is. Helps understand their personality. I usually dont comment on them though cuz after reading them my reaction is "oh ok, thats sad.." or "ah shes that kind of person, got it". Its hard to comment on them cuz you cant be like "oh i hope she'll do this or that" or "i wonder what will happen" since its in the past and we're now reading their present. This might explain why theyre the least commented on.
That said, I prefer the different POV's, they also give insight to what everyone is thinking but also feeds to the current storyline

    1. That makes a lot of sense. It's good to see that people so far are on the same page regarding the different POVs of the main storyline. Thanks so much for your input!

  4. I also enjoy the POV's. I would really enjoy reading James POV right now. He really liked Liv and it would be interesting. The back stories are ok, I just appreciate you posting regularly and asking for your readers feedback. Thank for for blogging!

    1. Thanks for your feedback! It's a nice break for me too. It's kind of hard to keep an ongoing story from getting stale and having a break to write other people's stories definitely helps.

  8. I really love the flashbacks as well. They are so unique and different as compared to other blogs out there! Lauren's were definitely my favorite, but I'm also wondering about some Liv flashbacks. We know a bit about her past relationship, but not a whole bunch. I am just trying to think of someone else we would want to hear about! Then again, I would love to see how Savannah's POV would be in the present day now that her scheming got her in trouble.

    1. I would like more in savanaah as well...how she sees things now and how she came up with that plot

    2. A Savannah POV for the sort of near future is actually already in the works :) And you're right, we know a lot more about everyone else's story, but not much about Liv. I am very purposely avoiding doing Liv's backstory because I want you guys to learn her story in bits and pieces at the same time Brody (and other characters) do. But it's all coming!

  10. I'd really like to read more about Lauren. Her back story has made me interested in her, and how she is living her life now.

    1. Lauren is going to play a bit bigger role in some upcoming posts, so that will come out more. I can definitely add some more Lauren perspective posts to my list too. Thank you!

  13. I'm always impressed with the unique way you're able to change the tone, perspective, and personality with the character you're giving a voice to. The varying posts never resemble that of the other characters...they are a new story in their own right. I love that. I think it really makes your talent as a writer stand out. So whatever you'd like most to write about, please do! I've enjoyed it all and doubt that will change.

    1. I have worked hard to try to make the different perspectives sound like they are actually different people, so I'm glad it's working. Thank you so much, this is probably the best compliment I've ever gotten!

  14. Ummm. This sounds horrible but I don't care either way. I don't hate them. I just.. This blog is consistent and I haven't not enjoyed a post yet. I like the.. You never know what you're going to get.

  15. I LOVE this blog - it's definitely my favourite of female lit blogs. However, I am not a fan of the backstories. It's not that your writing is any different (you are a fantastic writer), I just find that they don't advance the plot and therefore are kind of useless I have stopped reading any of the backstory posts, but that's just my opinion!

    1. Thank for the wonderful compliment and your honesty. I absolutely understand why some people don't enjoy the backstory posts. I will be taking a backstory break after Kinsley's story so check back on Fridays in about a month if you're interested in the current alternate perspectives. I appreciate your honesty!

  16. I love all your posts to be honest lol
I would like to hear some more Savannah though, I found her backstory the most intriguing - there's gotta be a reason she turned out so twisted!!
